Are We Still Strangers?
Met you when the violins played in my mind
Head split open on the concrete wall
Neurons interweaving
From dusk to dawn
Strewn on the tar
Ocean’s pride without division
Battle drums bang the encouraging beat
And to war we go
Making the advance forward
Against the ongoing ache in our skulls
Putting up the good fight
With every weapon we have at our disposal
Often we want to surrender
Lasting agony give us no reprieve
Frequently we want to orchestrate our own end
But,
Yet,
We march on
We’ve haven't met
We’ve only shared a constant pain
What are we? – but just strangers in the dark.
