The Romance In Suicide (Version #2)
Something must be said
About the wonderful calm feeling you must have
About the sensation you feel deep within
About the goose bumps that engulf your body’s surface
Something must be said
About the comfort you feel
About the off switch finally shut one last time
About the plug being pulled forever
Something must be said
About the last poetic moment of life
About the last breath taken
About the last word whispered
Something must be said
About the last sight witnessed
About the last salty tear tasted
About the last scent carried through
Something must be said
About the last reflection seen
About the last contemplated decision
About the last recalled memory
Something must be said
Nothing said; Nothing done
Something done; Nothing said
Something must be said

The Reason I Cry
I cry because of my long wait
My amazement
I am witness
I am history
Never in my life
Have I seen such a dedication
A choice
A divide
No wait is too painful
No wait has been so memorable
A small sacrifice
For a worldly change
Warm weather awaits your decision
Your right
Your duty
I cry because
We turned out
We unite
We vote

Remember As He Did
I’ll ask you all once
And only once
Remember the first moment
And put the last moment
Far away

Removing
I breathed heavily
And she went to heaven
I saw blacks and whites
Or, you might even say
Blacks and Crackers
Mingling at the back of the bus
Smoking junk
Hitting up junk
Consuming junk
They performed
Exorcisms and ballets
Carefully calculated choreographies
Like moths traveling around a flame
Like bees bringing pollen back to make honey
Sticky
And sweet
The bear in the book
Brings back memories untold
So, this is my story
And my story is wed
Controlled
Cemented
Catapulted

Rosa Parks
Oh dear dear Rosa,
Break these chains
And break free from those that bound you.
Oh dear dear Rosa,
Break free from yourself
Become the great Rosa you are
Leave Detroit behind you
Oh dear dear Rosa,
Become my angel
Free like the white dove you are
Get to the front of the bus
Kiss me so sweet
Oh dear dear Rosa,
See the reflection in the glass
Be who you are and sing out loud
Put shyness to the wind
And quit hiding beneath the table,
Get on the bus
Oh dear dear Rosa,
Break free from the chains
Put your blindness aside
Let the hurricane gust
Blow through your hair
Oh dear dear Rosa,
Discovery of choice is but yours
Detroit is dead
You are mine
And I am yours.

Running Without You
I’m running through these fields of golden wheat
Following the path of my fire so sweet
Past the cottonwoods and the music of meadowlarks
My heart speaks to me and tells me to follow the sparks
Insides ache with emptiness, we grieve
Together, our stories have only begun to weave
I’m running past the descent of the sun
There is only you, the destination of my run
Depart your harbor and hoist up the sail
I’ll run around this earth and send you air mail
Catch the winds that lead you to my heart
It’s impossible for our love to depart
I’m running beneath the sea
Searching for the perfect place for you and me
Our threads of passion have intertwined
No longer is our love hidden and blind
Let your dreams incubate with mine
Love like this is only once, so divine
I’m running towards you with my key
Unlock yourself before our December jubilee
My tumbled scar is healed, removed the suture
Repair my heart, so let us share our future
Our balcony on the Mediterranean will wait
Accompany me into love’s gate
I’m running without you today
I know once you are in, long you will stay
Giving up is not an option for the two
The life we live is not quite through
Bid farewell to that port
It is I who will be your aisle escort

Remembering
And on the last day
All had gathered
Trying to remember him
Attempting to contemplate
Not one could come up with reasons
They did not understand his decision to do what he had done
But only one
Had loved

River Rock
As you eat your donuts,
And you sip your tea,
I can’t help but think,
If you’d be suckin’ on me.
As you study your lines,
And you think of photography,
I can’t help but think,
If we’d make our own choreography.
As you wash your hair,
And you think of the sky,
I can’t help but think,
If I’d go down on your thigh.
As you wet yourself with soap,
And you clean your soul,
I can’t help but think,
If you let me go on and cajole.
As you bend forwards,
And you deliver your rump,
I can’t help but think,
If in the night we went thump.
As you sing your song
And I put you in a gag,
I can’t help but think
If we went for a shag.
As you moan your words,
And hear the twinkle of a flute,
I am the Eden,
And you are my fruit.
That is my tale,
A Friday morning,
I am here,
and you are there,
I am a rock,
and you,
a river.

Ramblings of a Constant Search
It’s hard to put to words.
But all around me I see love.
I see my friends in love.
My sister in love with her husband.
With two children,
My nephew and niece who I adore so much.
My father remarried in love.
My mother remarried in love.
My grandfather remarried in love.
My grandparents in love for decades upon decades.
All around I witness love,
Yet I cry every day.
I’ve said it before,
It’s hard to put to words.
To illustrate how much I ache.
My friends are in love.
Some are involved.
Some engaged.
Some married.
Some pregnant.
Some parents.
But I cry every day.
I listen to sad music.
I have tears that roll.
Constantly.
They never stop.
Because I am a man.
A man dying of a broken heart.
Because I am a man.
A man who wishes to be in love.

Realization of a Serpent
Serpent in
and serpent out.
My thickness will see,
what it’s about.
Passes over
and passes under.
My drive will find,
the cement to bind.
Lookers looking
and waiters waiting.
My shadow unexpected,
yesterday least connected.
The trades go out
and protection is slipped.
My angel wings are ready for flying,
it is certain that I am tired of buying.
Celebration days come
and tree gatherings go.
My what an incorrect lie,
when I say I am going to die.
Grave diggers dig
and mourners come.
She is here not,
as they grant my last plot.

Rocket Spine
It’s like a rocket through the spine.
It burns up your entire back.
Striking immediately.
Lightning fast.
You weren’t even aware.
You were just sleeping.
You were only waiting or looking or searching.
Then, BANG!
It’s like a rocket through the spine.

Rescue
Oh, darling, I hear your voice calling
Oh, darling, I smell your bounding scent on my sheets
Oh, darling, I taste your lips in my horizons
Rescue me from this pain I’m in
Rescue me from this cruel world
Rescue me from this symphony of love
Oh, darling, I see you in the daylight
Oh, darling, I view you in my dreams
Oh, darling, I listen to your beating heart
Rescue me from the poetry at the tip of my tongue
Rescue me from the thoughts I’ve had for years
Rescue me from the love I lack
Oh, darling, I wish you were here
Oh, darling, I can’t get you out of my mind
Oh, darling, I dream of you daily
Rescue me from this horrible sea
Rescue me from this quest I have for you
Rescue me from this struggle I’m in
Oh, darling, I want you in my arms
Oh, darling, I would die every day for your love
Oh, darling, I knew the falling would be hard
Rescue me from this unbearable disease
Rescue me from this unhappy emptiness
Rescue me from this uncontrollable suffering
Rescue me from the need I have
Rescue me from the desire I live
Rescue me from the heart ache
Oh darling, you’re the one,
Oh darling, I’ve waited so long,
Oh darling, come into my arms,
Oh darling, Oh darling,
Rescue me, Rescue me.

Rain Fire
Rain Fire
Falling rain
Heaven sent you
I thank the mother
For our land is dry
Fire ruled our land
The evening came and opened up
Swallowed up the land with your rain
Rain Fire
Let the hunt begin
Rain Fire
Let the creatures crawl out
Rain Fire
The fire is damp
Our great creator has released us
Your burning flesh no longer
Breeze came from mountains between two seas
River flowed beyond the nations
Seeds abandoned
Rain Fire
Let the hunt begin
Rain Fire
Let the creatures crawl out
Rain Fire
Great white one gone with cat
Silent blackness covered the landscape
Make image in head
Burned flames with words of great eagle feather
Buffalo entering
No more here
Rain Fire
Let the hunt begin
Rain Fire
Let the creatures crawl out

reading / read
I am not here.
Reading Read
I am over here.
Reading Read
I haven’t found you
Read that story last night
Haven’t slept in days
Reading Read
I read your mind
I found that heart
Deep inside
Reading Read
Punching thirst
Thinking of a sprinkle
Won’t believe the dust
Reading Read
I’m not reading
Don’t like to read
But I’ll read you up
And forget the soul
Because Reading tonight
Is a book worth reading...

Romantic Lovie
Oh Romeo
My big buddy
My fat cat
Sweet stinker
You run after fishy
You are a great thumper
Romping around
Running around
Laughing
Goofy
Oh Romeo
You black and white
You big eyed wonder
You silly goose!
Showing a path
A running bolt
A stalker
And birdie chirper
Lovie Dovie in bed
Humping thy breast
Tonight, and night
Tickle Tickle toe tickler
Oh Romeo
What?
Whadya say?
What?
You want to play with fishy??

Red
I can’t stop now
Ocean waves are breaking
Wild horses are breathtaking
I can only follow you
Into the sky of heaven
I can make a giant leap
But nothing without a holding hand
Inside and out
Today I think about you
And your red hue
Footsteps left in the sand
Someday a return passage
A thought in the salt wind
And a shared glance from yesterday
The sound of the ocean
Calms my heart
Puts me in that place
Deep down inside
In the deepness
Where blue becomes white
And red becomes autumn peach
And pink or blue can be all and warm
I can’t stop now
Someone told me
You were beautiful
But it wasn’t me
I live for today
And don’t want to hurt you tomorrow.
