Fatigue

Early rising

Training at the gym

Being in attendance; art of transcendence

Dissimulating in front of everyone

Rocking chair, rock and sun

Calling in sick, I’ve perfected the shtick

Getting on the scale

Gaining pounds and losing weight

Changing to a smaller waist; becoming erased

No opportunities to hang art on a wall

Not a word mentioned in an art rag

Paint brush; toilet flush

Fork in the road, beaten path

Road less traveled, highway bypass

Couldn’t care less; such a mess

Organizing, researching, night gazing

Sorting, snorting, shifting,

Never relaxing; texting for your waxing

Pretending pompous purpose

Greatness in a coward’s cloak

False behavior given a prize; dead in my eyes

Wishing to dance and never dancing

Cookies on the plate and cookies in my pockets

I ate cookies and cream; cookies in my dream

Boxes chained to my ankles

Teeth falling from my mouth

Living inside someone else’s life; catastrophic strife

Tightrope walking

Screws and bolts holding me together

Looking funny these days; upside down sideways

Watching people speak

Up and down and up and down

Not hearing a thing; punched in the boxing ring

Pocket pills, magic pills, pain pills

Heart pills, acid pills, migraine pills

Repeated; autoimmune treated

Travel bugs, bed bugs, listening bugs

Changing channels and changing lanes

Sitting in the aisle seat; still in the dead heat

Camouflage treasures under my arm

Agent of love embedded deep

Finger print my thumb; remind me how numb

Hot humidity destruction

Not a seat on the train

Standing still in the night; mosquito bite

Dead on a dime

AARP RSVP AMZN GOOGL

Reruns, Returns, Refunds, Rollovers; leftovers

Space challenger exploding in the sky

Obese orbit around the buffet

Stolen handgun; just a son

Idea stuck but not star struck

Immediate gag lying still

Wetting face; your panties lace

Letters of admiration

Coffin sales and coffee brews

On your knees; the great big tease

Typing responses with arthritic fingers

Procrastinating choices unmade

Dusting off my leisure suit; grandfather’s bayonet dispute

Gotta stop - want to stop - won’t stop

My nap is done, the pause is over, the break is broken

Off the line, in a great bind; I am no longer blind
