Stop Breaking

Stop that —

That breaking,

That barking dog

That braking at the stop light

That phony little hint of affection

That sanding off the bark of a tree

That standing on the side of the road

That bombardment of fake emotions

That vomiting of words you don’t mean

That lie you spew forth from your mouth

That sawing off the chambers of my heart

That waiting for the pause in the rainstorm

That moving slowly toward an unfound redemption

That thawing of your sham of a feeling you have for me

That burying me alive with my love for you

Causing me to go into cardiac arrest

At least when I’m dead, I’d rest
